Dear Navi,
Words can not even begin to describe the love I have for you baby girl. One week ago today you were brought into this cold, and scary world. One week ago today you made me realize what life is all about and that I had one missing thing in my life up until this point, and that missing thing was the amazing love that I feel by bringing a child into this world. You gave this very special gift to me Navi, and for that I will be eternally grateful.
After what seemed like hours of blowing on your moms face and rubbing her leg to calm her down and ease the pain of child birth, you entered our lives at exactly 12:00 p.m. It's pretty cool because the Doctor was predicting that you would be born around 2 or 2:30, but something in my heart told me that you would be here at noon. I just knew it. I was right.
Right before you were born, I looked into your Mom's eyes after she had been giving it her all and then some, and told her to push, and to push harder than she thought she could ever push in her life. She did, and out you came. First your head, and then one more small push from your Mom and you were completely out. Your Mom is amazing. She had you with no pain relief. No epidural. Not to many Mom's can say they have done that!
When you entered our lives, you entered it purple and swollen. I barely thought you would make it out, your cheeks were so big! The Doctor quickly gave you to Mom right when you were born. As you layed on her chest, you looked into her eyes. I couldn't stop crying when I saw this. It was the single most amazing thing I think I will ever witness. Shortly after that they had me cut your umbilical cord. What a unique experience. I think of that moment everyday Navi, and probably will for a long time to come.
Most babies scream at the top of their lungs when they are born. I was amazed at how little you were crying and also how calm your cry was. It was very soothing. You would cry for a few seconds and then calm yourself down and then return to crying a few more seconds and then stop for a minute. Not your typical newborn at all. You were special and I knew it.
Your Grandma's and Grandpa, Uncles and Aunts were there to see you and love you more than you know. People I don't even know love you. You are a very loved girl Navi and I think it's safe to say that will never ever change.
Over the next two days at the hospital, we got to learn about your personality and spend time with you. I got to wheel you around in your little cart thingy, give your first bath and change your diaper for the first time. Your Mom got to feed you and give you life. You wore us both out but it was completely worth every second!
The day after you were born, I sat holding you in my arms. Your Mom was next to me. We were trying to think of what to name you. We had heard the name Navi from Mom's friend and really loved it, but didn't know if it was the right name for you. As I sat with you in my arms, I decided to start calling you Navi to see if it fit or not. To my surprise, right when I said your name, you gave me the biggest smile you have ever given me to this day. Your Mom and I both looked at each other and tears came to our eyes. We knew that was your name and we are so glad you did too because it fits you so well!
We brought you home on Saturday and immediately your sweet spirit entered the walls of our home. Navi, to describe what you mean to me would be like memorizing the dictionary. You have changed my life and given me a new spirit. Not only have you done this to me, but you have given this gift to anyone who meets you and gets to hold you.
I feel so lucky that every day we have gotten to hang out just the two of us. Whether its for 5 min. or a half hour. You look me right into my eyes and it's hard to hold back the tears of joy that I get when you do. I don't know what you are thinking but I know you love me and I know you know I am your Dad.
I will always be there for you Navi. I love you more than anything on this world. You are my little girl and always will be. I am so in debt to our Heavenly Father for Him sending such a special little girl to your Mom and I. You are truly an angel. Time will always fly by just like this first week has, but no matter how fast the time goes, I know we will be together forever.
Love always,
Your Daddy
